Frantoi Cutrera is a family run farm spanning approximately 50 hectares in the Chiaramonte Gulfi area, right in the heart of the Hyblaen Mountains, in South-Eastern Sicily. At the head of the family is Giovanni, who, having lived his whole life amongst oil mills and olive groves, and who still recalls the days when people worked using mules and old manual presses, decided to start his first mill in 1979 with his wife’s active involvement. Since the year 2000, Frantoi Cutrera is being run by their children: Maria, Giuseppina, Salvatore and their partners Giovanni, Giacomo and Angela. Although Giovanni, the father, has given the farm over to his children, he is still a solid point of reference for them and a bottomless source of wisdom: a lifetime of experience in olive growing. The farm uses three different processing means for the olives, so that the most apt extraction technique can be applied according to each olive variety and to their ripening stage. Olives are processed in the farm’s own mills within 6 hours of being picked. All by-products of the processing are used as fertilizers for organic farming.
Organoleptic profile
This oil is of a beautiful green color with golden highlights. The bouquet presents elegant and peppery aromas with rich notes of green tomato. The taste is intense yet harmonious, with marked tones of balsamic herbs and sweet almond.
