Production zone: Franciacorta (Brescia), from proprietary vineyards located in Monticelli Brusati.
Blend: 100% Merlot
Yield per hectare: 60/80 Quintals/Ha
Planting Density: 4000 - 5000 vines per hectare, trained to the spurred cordon system.
Vineyard Management: sown ground cover, with organic fertilization every 3-4 years. Biological pest control.
Terrain characteristics: Hillsides and hill bases, with southeasterly exposures. Thick clayey loams with good natural mineral contents.
Harvest: In the fall; the pickers work through the vineyards several times, picking the grapes only when they have reached perfect ripeness.
Vinification: Destemming and pressing in steel tanks. Fermentation, followed by a very long period of maceration on the skins.
Aging: In barriques for 18 months, followed by bottling and at least 18 months of bottle aging.
Available in 0.750 liter bottles.
Best drunk after 2/3 years from the harvest.
Tasting notes and food-wine pairing: Complex, ample, and enveloping bouquet.
Rich and full on the palate, with ripe berry fruit and jam, enriched by toasted spicy accents, and a long pleasant finish. Excellent with richly flavored game, braised
meats, and grilled meats.
