Cantina di Montalcino Sangiovese Poggio del Sasso 2017
0.75 L - 12.50% BY VOLUME IN THE MONTALCINO CELLAR
The lively Sangiovese Poggio del Sasso is one of the most important products of the Cantina di Montalcino winery.
We are located in Tuscany and in particular in the province of Siena, where the Poggio del Sasso vines produce Sangiovese grapes of extraordinary quality.
The vines occupy a fairly limited area that lends itself very well to the cultivation of this quality of grape of ancient origin and among the most widespread not only in Tuscany, but in many areas of Italy.
The harvest begins in September only when the grapes have reached the right degree of ripeness. The harvest is done strictly by hand.
This wine is obtained with the classic red vinification with maceration of the skins for about 8-10 days. In this phase the integrity of the raw material is first checked; then the pressing takes place with the transfer of the must obtained into large stainless steel tanks.
Thus begins the fermentation process, a very delicate period that takes place at a controlled temperature with values between 28-30 ° C. Pumping over is frequent to allow adequate dissolution of the anthocyanins.
Refinement takes place with a short rest of about two or three months in 2nd passage French oak barriques. The small barrels already used are a typical feature in the production of Sangiovese and transfer extraordinary aromas to the wine.
Poggio del Sasso is a Sangiovese IGT that can be appreciated not only by true connoisseurs, but also by those with little experience and less trained taste buds, who want to try a red with a delicate bouquet and a pleasant freshness.
Bright red.
On the nose the fruity sensation of cherry prevails, followed by foreal notes, among which the violet stands out.
The impact in the mouth is quite decisive, clear and frank.
