DESCRIPTION OF BASTIANICH FRIULANO
Bastianich's Friulano is a harmonious, soft white with a rich and expressive fruit. A version of the ancient French vine Sauvignonasse, previously known in Friuli as Tocai, which favors the breadth and maturity of the fruit. The bouquet expresses aromas of yellow fruit, hints of aromatic herbs and hints of almond. The sip is full and satisfying, harmonious and intense, with a closure on the typical savory notes of the terroir.
The Friulano wine of the Bastianich winery is produced with grapes that come from the vines grown in the hilly areas of Premariccio, Cividale del Friuli and Prepotto, with east and south-east exposure, with a plant density of 4000-8000 plants per hectare , on soils made up of calcareous marl and sandstone, the famous Friulian ponca, rich in minerals. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 100 and 180 meters above sea level. They are protected from cold winds by the first reliefs of the Julian Alps and the Mediterranean heat is mitigated by the breezes that rise from the nearby Adriatic Sea. Once the harvest is complete, the grapes are destemmed and softly pressed. The free run must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16-18 ° C for 15-20 days. Before bottling, the wine ages for six months on the lees in steel, to acquire more body and structure.
Bastianich Friulano is a rather rich version, which aims above all to enhance the ripe fruit and the aromatic breadth of the grape, emphasizing its natural characteristics of expressive harmony and balance. At sight it has a beautiful bright straw yellow. The nose expresses delicate floral notes, aromas of pear, peach, ripe yellow fruit, nuances of almond and medicinal herbs. On the palate it has a good structure, with rich and juicy fruit, dense with aromas and persistent, which stretches towards a salty and slightly almond finish, of moderate freshness.
