TreRose is sited in a marvelous 16th-century villa on the gentle slopes leading from Montepulciano down toward the Val di Chiana and Lake Trasimeno, in the heart of the area with the strongest vocation for production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The wine estate covers about 180 hectares, of which 78 are planted in vines. Fifty-five are devoted to production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano: “Simposio” (100% Prugnolo Gentile) and “La Villa” (90% Prugnolo Gentile, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot). The other vineyards are planted in both autochthonous and international vines producing red and white grapes, such as the Viognier variety that originates the intriguing “Busillis” white wine.
The estate also produces a limited quantity of Vin Santo di Montepulciano from aromatic Trebbiano, Grechetto, and Malvasia grapes fermented and aged for about ten years in the typical caratelli, small chestnut-wood casks. This excellent, elegant dessert wine is the star of TreRose’s production.
