Sauvignon friuli isonzo doc
The history of Friuli Isonzo’s vineyards dates back to pre-Roman times. The
flat strip of land in the province of Gorizia, extending south of the hilly area
and bordering on the east with the rich Triestino and to the west by the Judrio
river descending towards the Adriatic Sea and the Lagoon of Grado, offers
wines known and appreciated since ancient times. A green-skinned grape
variety originating from the Bordeaux region of France. The name probably
comes from the French word “sauvage”, meaning wild. Isonzo del Friuli is on
the same latitude of the Southern Borgogna.
Tasting notes
Straw yellow. Dense, multi-layered, characteristic nose. The nose has hints of
green bell pepper, tomato leaf and peach. The palate is elegant, flavour and
slightly acidic.
Food Pairing
Excellent with any type of fish and strong-flavoured herb risottos; shellfish
salads with tomatoes and baby onions, pasta handkerchief filled with crayfish
and mint.
